Default Transmission Problem

Okay. So i have a 96 xj 4.0 H.O. with i believe is the aw4? I have been having some issues with shifting on the trans. When i come to a stop i have to down shift manually to 1-2 to get the trans to down shift. If i dont shift it manually it seems to slip like the trans is going out but as soon as i down shift it moves like there is not a problem. Also intermittently when driving anywhere above 45 my O.D. will just drop out and drive like its in 3rd but as soon as i give it more throttle it engages O.D. When i let off the throttle to maintain speed it pops back out of O.D. It first started intermittently and now it does it all the time. I have been researching this issue for a few months all while daily driving the jeep. I am not sure what to do just looking to see if anyone knows of any thing that they have seen. Thank you!
