Ok I have a 1997 Cherokee sport with some transmission problems . The other day it was shifting into all gears but would not shift from second to third . Yesterday it had the same problem until it warmed up then it would not shift into any gear every one was like neutral. If I turned it off and restarted it it would shift into gear and drive until you stopped at a light then it would go back to every gear being neutral . Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like it slipping.
With problems like this, the basic checks first
1) what is the level of your ATF?
2) what does the fluid look like? Brown and smelly means it's well due for replacement
3) Once the above is checked, drive and if the issue still exist, try shifting manually through the gears. If that goes fine the trans is mechanically fine and the issue most likely in the electrics, like the solenoids.
Let us know how this goes.
