Its been years since I changed mine but it seems like it was the dipstick tube the pan hung on. I pulled down harder and it popped loose. Can't swear to it now. Can swear that changing the filter/gasket on the Cherokee 4.0 is 10X easier than changing it on my S10 Blazer 4.3.

Almost everything else on the road is 10x easier to work on than a S10Blazer with a 4.3, even the 2.8 for that matter.

It ended up being the fill tube was bent. I tweaked it a little bit and up she went

Yeah, just did mine for the 3rd time and I haven't even had it for a year yet. First time, I wanted to get all the fluids done after I bought it. Second was to test the solenoids and fix the leak I created. Last time was much better and also replaced the solenoids and filter again. Now it should have just about all fresh fluid in that baby and a new filter. This was all done in a matter of approximately 2k miles.

Sorry, didn't mean to jack your thread. Just happy I finally got that all fixed and done for now.
