That is controlled by the TPS (electronic portion) and the throttle cable (hydraulic portion). Even slight mistakes in adjustment of either can raise shifting havoc. Have you reset the throttle cable?
Press button, push cable assembly fully back to retracted position, then press your accelerator to the floor...the cable will ratchet back out into the correct position.

The FSM used to specify rotating the throttle manually to WOT to reset the cable, but I believe that was changed along the line to use the accelerator instead. If you don't get good results one way, try the other.

I added the Lucas Transmission Fluid Conditioner yesterday and it seemed to quiet things down some. But then I got stuck in traffic coming home yesterday and the wining noise was back. You could feel the tranny like it had a hard time moving the vehicle when I was going real slow in traffic.

By the time I got back to the house, it would not hardly pull up the hill coming into my neighborhood. I think it is done. Taking it to the transmission shop Monday. Probably will just have them do a complete rebuild with a one year warranty rather than the junk yard swap deal.

This sucks!!!

can anyone tell me if the shift solenoids pla y a part in downshifting as well as upshifting? this may seem like a stupid question to some but if i dont ask ill never know.. i recently put in a new vehicle speed sensor and upstream and downstream 02 sensors from the dealership and it definately drives better but still have the shifting out of overdrive problem.. not as often as before but its still occasionally happening, any advice would be appreciated

So my transmission still doesn't shift out of od until I tap my breaks... I've been reading up on my aw4 and my problem boils down to a bad wire or valve body. I searched the site but can't seem to find the writeup on how to test the tps wires. Can anyone helpme out? Thanks
