Transmission mount troubles
Well there's two bolts that go from transmission mount to transmission, the passenger side seems to be coming loose or something? I had it all the way tightened down when I did it, then I checked the mount yesterday just to look and make sure everything was right because whenever I do stuff I double check myself. Well it was loose yesterday So I rolled under the jeep and tightened it back up, well today I checked again and sure enough it's loose again. Any suggestions?

When I replaced my tranny mount 2 years ago, one of the bolts broke in the tapped tranny hole, and my attempt to extract it left me with just a drilled hole. Rather than try and tap it I just threw a grade 8 bolt up and used a nut up top. To have it match I drilled the other side and used a bolt, washer, and nut as well.
I was skeptical at first, but 2 years later the nuts/bolts still tight.

I can't remember if the tapped hole did go all the way through or if I made it by drilling haha. But there is enough to flat area on top for the nut. And in hindsight should have used a stover nut instead of regular nut with lock washer. But no problems yet!

I'd hope to get this done tomorrow afterschool, because this is my only vehicle and I really need it running right and reliable.

Does anyone know the diameter or anything? Is the hole smaller than 3/8 because I have a 3/8 tap, or should I just drill out the hole bigger and use a through bolt? And what size? Diameter and/or length?

Up to you which one you want to do. Why don't you drill to 1/2" first if that doesn't work tap for 9/16"?

I was just wondering what size was like the next up, and the length so I could get the bolt from the hardware store without having to pull the jeep apart then measure the bolt then put it back together then drive to the hardware store then tear it apart and fix it.

it's fine, I think I'm just an idiot and figured out my problem. Obviously I was tightening it with the crossmember off because I couldn't get to it. I think the weight of the exhaust made the mount sag causing it to look all the way tight, but wasn't tight, and I was doing it in the dark so I tightened it and double checked before putting it all back together and I'm really hoping it's good. If not I'll do the through bolts.
