Hey guys I've only posted a few times but I have a question. I have a 97 XJ w/ an aw15. Today I was towing a trailer and I started noticing a bunch of smoke, so I pulled over to see that it was tranny fluid. I had enough to get it home and test to see where it was coming from. Its coming out of the bell housing, I took the bottom cover plate off to get a better look but obviously can't see much. It doesn't leak unless it's in gear and noticeably streams out under load. Any ideas of where it would actually be coming from? Front seal? I hope not haha... Thanks guys

It's an AW4. AX15 is the manual transmission.
Unfortunately, there's only one place that it's going to come from.
When they get hot they tend to spit fluid. Tho, usually average driving doesn't cause them to leak. Top it back off and drive it normal and see if it's still leaking without towing.

Haha yeah that's what I meant been researching a Manual swap so had two different numbers in my head... I did top it off and It still leaks under normal load. If I just sit with my foot on the brake and give it a little gas it streams out... So are you saying front seal?

Check your tranny cooler line up under there, it can look like its coming from the same spot. If not, i would say front seal.
