Hi guys i have an 89 xj and just yesterday the transmission starting giving me trouble, out of nowhere it just wont up shift and stays in second gear. And if im going in the highway in fourth gear it will shift to second by itself i already changed the transmission fluid and it seems it improved a little but the problem is still happening. Anybody gone thru the same thing any help is greatly appreciated

I personally haven't had this issue, but u may want to change the shift solenoid for 3rd if u havent had issues and have service the tranny regularly.

 

Sounds like a solenoid may be taking a dump. Bad news, I think they're a little expensive. Good news; easy as crap to put in. Maybe someone else will chime in.
