Transmission front seal?

hey whats up guys, so i went the undertaking of dropping my transmisson out of my xj. It would leak fluid from the front of the trans were bolts up to bell housing. Only would leak when started and pump would kick in. Was i steady constant leak and does not leak when engine is off!! After removing the torque converter the front seal came out with ease!! isnt the seal supposed to be a tight snug fit? Heard that trans can blow front seals out leading to a tranny problem, but it shifts smooth and fine!! Anyways guys let me know what you think just replace the seal or what you think!

Hey 7Jeep, it wasnt all that really hard to drop, Just used a floor jack and a motorcycle jack together to support it. The only part that set the process down was removing the 2 Torx Bolts on top of the trans to bell housing! They are very hard to get to and have to use about 3 feet on extension to even reach them. Ended up stripping the head off!! Grinding the bolt head off to remove these 2 bolts took the longest time!! The Torx Bolts are E12! not E14! Was told the wrong size!! Other than that it is pretty straight forward process just make sure remove all electrical connections and bell housing bolts. Hope i could help!

Depends on the trans it has...the big boys dont need a pump alignment tool but you do need to pull the pump, on the others you need a tool (you can use a big hose clamp) and you really shoud use green locktight when you install the bushing and always use a bronz bushing.
If you are going to pull the pump make sure that you keep the trans pointed up or the drums can fall out....I recomend using a slide hammer.

yea it ended up being the pump seal bushing, it was wore out and started grinding on input shaft, just went ahead and bought all new front pump, torque converter is still good..
(I have a 2000 cherokee sport)
