How hard is it to change the front oil seal in my transmission. I have a 1995 cherokee, 4L 5speed manual trans. I have the transmission on the bench.I understand I have to remove the front plate to get to the seal but I am told I might need a puller to remove the crank pulley. Not sure what the crank pulley is. Is there a special tool to remove the seal after you remove the crank pulley. Could I use a short piece of pipe the same diameter of the front seal to tap the seal back in its seat. Is this the kinds of job that the average shade tree mechanic can perform.
