Post transmission fluid type question

So i have been using Dex/Merc III by PEAK to do drain and fills. now that the fluid is looking cleaner, i wanted to use Maxlife by Valvoline, because i always use that and have never had a complaint.

I ordered it, and when it came it was (Dex/Merc; Mercon LV). Will this be the same as traditional Dex/Merc III or should i return it.

When i initially received it, i was pretty pissed and was getting ready to send it back, but then i decided to come ask you guys first.

I cant seem to find Maxlife Dex/Merc III anywhere, so i was thinking maybe this is the equivalent?

I would contact Valvoline and ask if Mercon LV is compatible with Dexron III/Mercon. Mercon LV is a new Ford ATF.

Personally I wouldn't use it but Valvoline Tech folks may say it's okay.

Valvoline Tech isn't going to buy him a transmission.

I would stick with conventional Dextron/Mercon III-VI. I don't see any compelling reason to change from that.

I got my Valvoline Max-Life, in Dex III at my local Wally-World. Definitely stick with what the transmission was designed for.

Right. The only other fluid I'd think about running in the AW4 is Dex 6 that's rear-compatible with Dex 3 fluid. I do that in every GM vehicle I own that has had Dex 3 previously.

That's what I run, and I have not had any trouble finding it at Advance.

Here's the product description:

Recommended for use where DEXRON, DEXRON II, III and VI, Toyota T-IV and WS, MERCONŽ, MERCONŽ SP and LV, Allison TES 295 and 389, Nissan Matic-D, Matic-J and Matic-K, Honda Z-1 (except CVT), Mercedes NAG-1, Mitsubishi Diamond SP-II and SP-III and many others are required.

I see it also mentions MERCON SP and LV, so read the label.
