so i kind of sank my jeep a little bit the other night while playing in a field the differentials pumpkins,drive shaft and everything the exhaust and backend stayed up the front end was resting partially in the mud and 31"tires completely submerged. I'm getting ready to change oil, oil filter, differential fluid, reseal the differentials, now the question is i looked at my tranny fluid on the stick and can tell its dirty as expected. the jeep is a 98 and has 108,000 on it. its an automatic transmission and i got it back in november with 102,000 on it. should i change out the transmission fluid cause i heard that it can be bad to do it on automatic transmissions, but also was told it would be a good idea too. if its a good idea what fluid do i need to get and how much of it? im still learning about jeep and trying to do everything on my own

 

Changing the fluid is fine. The thing that is bad is flushing the trans.The best way to change the trans fluid is remove the drain plug. Refill the trans to the proper level, drive for a few miles or a day or two. Repeat this until the fluid is back to it bright red color. At the last refill you can remove the trans pan and replace the trans filter/screen and refill the fluid and you will be good to go.
