Default Transmission Fluid Level

I just did a drain and refill twice. I'm about to drive 700 miles from cali to Phoenix. The level while hot is about a quarter of an inch above the max line. Should I get that extra out now? When I get to Phoenix I'm going to drop the pan and do the gasket and filter. It's leaking.

I'd loosen the drain bolt carefully and drain a cup or two out carefully. Doesn't take much.

Define leaking. .. you'll probably lose a cup driving? Better slightly over full than under full. .. chances are you'll lose that much anyway? If what you're asking is will it explode driving slightly over full. .. no.

Yeah pretty much. I just don't want to overheat right after putting new fluid in. Seems like a huge waste. Temps aren't bad right now, so I guess it'll be fine. I'll just drop the pan when I get there and make sure I fill it correctly.

Lol I trust my jeeps when I have them. Alt and battery are newish. If the starter goes out I have a screw driver to try and jump it that way, when it does go out, I'll put a new Napa starter in it went through 3 remans on my first jeep and I just do it once now. And I carry extra fluids. And if all else fails, I have free towing through my insurance for $5 per 6 months. I did have to clear codes every time I stopped for gas to get rid of p0705 though. I'll have to diag and fix that now that I'm here :/... Other than that the drive went smooth.
