Yesterday I decided to start the transmission fluid change every time I change my oil to eventually have clean fluid. In a post somewhere on here said I should be able to refill with almost 4 quarts. Mine only took two quarts on the fuller side of the dipstick, is this an issue or should I not worry about it?

Yes, try that. It's the correct way to check an automatic transmission. ALL automatic transmissions.
All? Well, I suppose that somewhere in the long line of automotive history, there might be an auto trans that is checked while the engine is off, but I have never heard of it.
Just take it as a given, unless you have STRONG reason to believe otherwise for a particular vehicle, that automatic transmissions are checked:
- Hot.
- In Park.
- Engine idling.
