Transmission doesn't shift
So I was driving down a grade in Santa Barbara ca, and parked alongside the road for a view and moments later tried to take 90 Cherokee lore do out of park and the here selector seemed very loose. It wouldn't shift out of park with foot on brake but the selector can move.
Any ideas? It can break into neutral using the 4x4 selector but not the gear shift?!?!?!

Hi. Check for the harness. One year ago, it was same trouble. My harness was burned near of the plug for the transmission. Too hot under my hood. I repaired it and solve.

Well the dealership just called( towed to dodge/ jeep dealer) and said something about a whatsit recall. And his mech started it up, put it in drive and moved into a stall... I'll post a better response when I go to pick it up later.

So this recall apparently fixed the issue but now it won't start in park. The manager tried explaining (after he already stated that his guy stated it up and drove it...) that the neutral safety selector switch may be damaged and that I probably broke it and it cost 700$ to fix... No I won't be paying for that! I convinced him that his guy was at fault and it's being fixed FO FREE. Hopefully something else won't break before I pick it up today. I mean, before all that while I could start it up in park but wasn't able to take it from park!?!? Common man!

Well, the inital recall was a something interlock linkeage and yeah, the other issue that arose WHILE it was in THEIR care was the NSS. Alls good under my hood happy to have my okee back.
