I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 with an automatic transmission. I had the transmission replaced two years ago and about 4 months ago the check engine light started coming on. The car was totally running fine, but the check engine light kept coming on and off. My local repair man was unable to diagnose the code and said only the dealer could pull it up. So I took it to the dealer and they couldn't figure out what the problem was for quite a long time. Finally they told me the problem was the transmission control module. I replaced the TCM and the light is still coming on.

In the past two weeks the car has been acting weird. Every once in awhile after driving a considerable distance and coming to a full stop, the transmission acts like its not catching and stepping down on the accelerator only moves the car slowly. Once you turn the car off and back on again, its totally fine.

I was driving the car today and it did this weird thing where it took a long time to shift from first gear into second. I also noticed that sometimes the transmission shifts rougher the normal in third gear. All of these problems don't happen all the time, just only once in awhile.

I am seriously hoping its not the transmission because its friggin practically new. Anyone know what it could be or what I can do to figure out the problem? I live in Hawaii and there is only one dealership here and they are total jerks. I really don't want to take it back to them.
