Good way to free trans dipstick tube?
Sorry for all the threads, but if nothing else this will help someone in the future since there are no threads when I search regarding this.
That dipstick tube on the trans pan...HOW DO I GET THAT DAMN THING OFF?!
Its got me almost to the point of towing the POS off somewhere. I haven't been this frustrated with a single other thing on this vehicle.

Okay the tranny is a PIA... this is what i did. there is a lil bolt attached to the dip stick that mounts to the engine. IF IT IS STILL THERE. remove it. What I did was pulled the pan totally out from under the truck with dip stick attached then forced it aparat with vise grips and channel locks. Then i replace the O-ring right there and did my best to reinstall it. Unless you really want to pull the pan I would reccomend leaving it in place. It is a real PIA the get it back together I still dont think i have my dip stick reseated all the way

At the shop we heat the tube up with a propane torch and melt/burn the o-ring. It's thin metal so you will want to be careful here. Once it is hot enough, give it a twist to break loose and pull and mostly they come right apart. Clean out old o-ring with a small wire brush and clean out the tube that is on the pan also. Round wire brush or even fine sandpaper. New o-ring and lube will slip it back together (assembly grease works)

Me, I just want someone to show me how to adjust that dang cps or whatever it is so next time it happens to myself or a fellow jeep owner it wont cost em $400.00

If the CPS is bad you just replace it. There is no adjustment. Hope that helps clear that up for ya!!

TPS is the one you adjust. It can have the same problem start die, start die, what not.
Adjusting it is pretty easy.
Skarpenz: The Tranny filter is so much of a PIA I don't blame ya one bit for taking it in. I will more than likly with my other Waggie.
