transfercase seal Q

my transfercase seal is leaking on my 95 xj auto...i think its the np231 its the back seal where the driveshaft goes into the transfercase .the driveshaft slides right out ...i was wanting to know if i should get a good quality seal or will any seal work? and is it easy to remove and replace the new seal? never done one of these ? thanks

That tail core is on;y held on by three bolts and silicone.
Pull the drive shaft, then you can either bull the tail housing, or not.
I would pry the seal out (just a screw driver and reach under the edge of it and pry it out) then remove the tail.
Get the new seal and with the tail on the floor use a hammer and board, place the seal on the housing and use lay the board across the seal and then tap it into plac with the hammer.
Give the tail housing a nice even bead of silicone and put it back and the shaft back in.

no need to pull the tail section. just remove driveshaft and pull the seal. then use a block of wood and a hammer, or just a plastic mallet if you have one, and tap the new seal back in.

im going to go ahead and pull the tail section ..i want to replace the bushing behind the seal...anyone know what tool i can use to remove that bushing?
