i was useing my 4wd trying to get my draw bar out of the hitch and it was grinding. it only grinds in 4 high part time when i push heavly on the gas but 4 low part time it doesnt make any kind of noise what so ever. any ideas? i was thinking maybe low on fluid?

 

First thing would check would be the fluid level. Take out the top (fill plug) of the two plugs and stick your finger in there. Should be right at the bottom of the fill hole.

 

standard transmission fluid? or atf+3

 

It should be Dex/Merc III.

While you're in there, I'd go ahead and change out the fluid. It'll take just over a quart. So get 2 quarts.
