Default Transfer case weirdness

So I finished up my 4.5" RC lift, all went well except the transfer case drop. I installed the drop but my transfer case isn't resting on the crossmember anymore, its just kind of floating.
I'm also having shifting issues that I'm assuming are related. When shifting into the "bottom" gears (2,4,R) I have to more or less hold the shifter in place or it'll slip out.
I have an AX-5 and NP-207 if that helps...

how much drop did you put in? you mean to tell us that if you take the cross member out the trans wont drop by it self? it should want to fall to the ground. the more you drop it the more you put an angle on the shifter and you reduce the shifter stroke to the rear. an SYE would be best
for a stick shift.

i put in 1" of drop. i know SYE is the be all, end all of the situation but I've got to swap tcases first.

with the 1 inch drop your shifter is likely hitting the inter boot at the frame
take off the outer shifter boot and look for problems there. as for your trans not dropping i would look to see if theres clearance at the back of the motor and the fire wall and or anything else that would hang it up.

i hacked at the inner shift boot and seem to have cleared up the shifting problem. tightened my motor mounts, a couple bolts were a little loose. trans seems to be sitting lower but still looks a little hung up...
