Default transfer case questions?

I have a 97 Cherokee country. I recently replaced the transmission in with a junkyard one and almost done but ran into a problems.

First, with the 4x4 shift linkage. I removed this bolt thinking that when I put it back together I could just tighten the bolt back down in the "clean" spot, if that make sense. Well, if I put the bolt there it will not let the shifter move into 4l. If I move the bolt toward the front of the jeep it will not let it shift into 2h. Is there any trick/tips?

Second, is this line? Where does it go? Its connect to the top of the transfer case. Somewhere in the process it was overlooked and I don’t have a clue where it goes. The picture is of the end cap/connector.

Thanks in advance!!

ok first your linkage all you have to do is adjust it have some one hold down on your 4wd leaver. and make sure you are in 2wd then tighten down the bolt. and your done. the rubber hose is expose to be run up into the engine bay by firewall.

Wrong on the adjustment... Put shifter in 4low, manually shift the TC into 4LOW, then tighten the clamp bolt.

hose looks like the Tranny or TC breather, rout up the firewall
