Transfer case issues
I recently purchased an '84 Cherokee Chief for dirt cheap that only needed a $15 rear brake line to pass a safety inspection. It has some leaks and other minor nic nac issues, but the main issue I'm having with it is that it won't go into 4 wheel low, 4high works just fine. I've already crawled up under it and checked the linkage on it and its good, but the shifter has a lot of free play in it. Any body have any ideas on what it could be?

there is a cable that can be adjusted that runs from the shift lever to the TC. do a thread search, it on here somewhere...
here is quote from another post on same issue:
Shift linklage. There's just a little bolt on the arm linkage, think its half inch socket. push the lever all the way to 2wd then loosen the bolt, push the lever further into 2wd, tighten bolt...done.
