98 xj with 250k on the AW4

I had the original solenoids replaced about 8 years ago at the dealership and i was just wondering about how long solenoids normally last since the first set only lasted about 7 years.

Im asking because the tranny seems a little sluggish on the downshifts recently. Its not throwing any codes though. It has a very slow leak somewhere but i check it often an keep it topped off. I plan on dropping the pan and replacing the filter soon and was wondering if i should just go ahead and do the solenoids too or should I not waste the money?

How long solenoids normally last, depends on how you drive. If your going to be down there dropping the pan, id suggest you do it. Also check if you have the correct amount of ATF.

haha, that makes so much sense now.....My mom had this jeep the first 7 years of its life, and she also blew the original 4.0. I drive it like a baby, its my dd for now and a future project.

Now my question is will the cheap solenoids from advanced work for now, or should i not even bother with those?

p.s. thanks for the reply.
