Default trans problem

I have always had manual jeeps this is my first automatic. It is a 98xj with a 4.0L. 4x4. The jeep is all stock. This last weekend i went out and played in some mud and water with it and it was just fine. On the ride home i stopped at the car wash to wash it off and about a mile after leaving the car wash i stopped at a traffic light and when i took off it would not shift unless i hit about 4000 rpm. If i unplug the trans plugs under the hood and i can shift the trans manually and it will shift nice any smooth. Any ideas of what may have caused this??

You may have killed your throttle position sensor in the water

Haha. They really don't like water... Maybe transmission sensor?
