I dont know what i is but I bet there is more of it that hasnt reached the pan.......I try but dont always drop the pan before buying trans's from pick and pulls as well. My buddy bought a trans dropped the pan and it was literally full of a mud/tar residue.

Any ideas? Yep, take that POS back. See if they have another one, this time pull the pan, look for debris/condition of the oil and check the solenoids with a digital meter (11-15 ohms) before you bring it home.

That's the plan I'm scrapping the old rear and front beam and the old 2wd and this junk 4wd trans, my gfs parents own a scrap yard so hopefully I make some money back
