Default trans cooler leak at the trannie connection

'91 laredo. got me a scavanged durango pitma arm, but thats the extent of "mods" she has thusfar. k, here we go...

so after a few days of searching the web and several hours of serching threads here, i have learned that the trans cooler quick connections a) create a lot of frustration; b) dont work "quickly"; c) nore do they work very often; d) AND everyone seems to have a nifty fix using 3/8" oil hose and clamps to fix thier leak (near the RADIATOR)...

of course my leak is the crap-disconnect at the transmission. ordered meself a dorman quick-disconnect, slid everything together and got to shoving and cussing at the connection. i'm not sure if the line is misbent, or illaligned, but nothing fit and the o-rings came out pinched in two.

i like the idea of chopping off the end of the trans tube. seems that the fix is easy to maintain and doesnt require "re-fixing". my question arises after i chop the tube, slide clamps and hose onto the tube, how does the altertion afix to the connector on the transmission? the factory set up has the tube fit INSIDE of the connector... and i dont see the 3/8" hose sleaving the large, long, hex shaped fitting on the trannie.

after much reading i also saw someone mentioning having used a hose barb... i have difficulty grasping how a hose barb would be used on a s.s. tube.
dude, i'm lost.

its dark, and the only camera i have is on me phone. so i'll try pics tomorrow, but i think this is pretty straight forward.

going to buy a flare tool, some plumbing fittings, clamps, and try to come up with something.

if anyone has any ideas please feel free to suggest. this being my dd, i cant spend the day searching the web for a "fix" (other than drop another $20 on the crap-disconnect and wait four days for delivery, or $35 to pick up a the local parts store).

hell, while your at it, if you know where the thread that covers this issue is, let me know that too! i may be brain numbed from staring at the screen all night.

I'm pretty sure there are o-rings in the quick connect... Maybe they're bad? Or is it not popped in all the way?
