Hmmmm.... Slips in D but takes off ok in 1st/2nd. Swap trans and it does the exact same. Sounds like the only common factor is the Jeep its going to. I'd start looking around at the linkage system on that first. Kinda strange to have 2 good trannies develop the exact same problem when installed in the same Jeep. JMO.

ECM would be my first bet. The second would be did you use the same torq convertor? I ask cause when my ZJ started doing that it was cause the torq convertor blew apart inside.

That make any odd sounds Nick? Or did it just slip when you tried to take off in gear? I think I might be having an issue w/ a T/C on something else...

No sounds, just slip at take off. Only way to over come it was to manually shift it. And that only helped not fixed it..

yea when my buddies cps went his jeep would buck and slip in and out of gear, then grab and take off... as for the converter, it will start off slipping till it wont catch anymore. at least thats how it is in dodge trucks.
what are the odds both converters are bad in 2 different trannies? im going to go with it being an electrical/sensor issue more than the actual tranny mechanics.

Odds all depends, rule of thumb with a Jeep never use a used Torq Converter. It's possible but not likely. I'd start looking at the ECM.
But I did find talking to friends were one with a '99 XJ had the same simptums on his XJ and it did turn out to be the CPS. Odd cause even he was shocked..
