Wow, it's been a while since I've been on the Cherokee forum . I need your help guys, my 98 XJ has an automatic transmission. A week back, I was driving and the transmission seemed like it didn't want to shift. When I let off the gas, it would shift with a very loud clunk noise. I checked my fluid and found I was about a quart low on tranny fluid. Is that the reason I was having shifting problems? I am not mechanically inclined with transmissions, so I have problems diagnosing and fixing these issues...since I added the fluid it's been running fine, but I just want to rule out any possible damage that could have caused this problem and make sure it didn't cause any more damage.
