Default Tranny issue after rebuild

So about a month ago my tranny was finally rebuilt.. I have driven close to 1000 miles already.
The problem is that when shifting to reverse, it still takes a while for it to kick in.
Giving some gas seems to help but isn't it supposed to kick in immediately ?
Aren't I supposed to give just a little bit of gas for it to start backing ?

You have a legitimate issue.

Bring your XJ to the shop that performed the rebuild.

Any good shop will stand behind their work. Good luck and keep us updated!

You may want to check the fluid level before you do anything. If it's low it will take a second or two longer to engage in reverse.

Will do, they also forgot to connect my transfer case so I'll have to go and see
what the next step will be.

I'll check this before I go to the shop, thanks.
