Default tranny issue

well the past few times ive been wheeling I thought I over heated my tranny (and maybe I did) because everytime we left the trials it would be slipping and hardly going anywhere... but today I used 4lo for all of 2 minutes and the same thing happened. turned the truck off and started it again right away and everything acted the way it should. so that leads me to think that the tranny is getting stuck in the wrong gear or something like that? any ideas on what could be my issue here?

Did you change the fluid (all of it) after the overheat? That'd be the first thing...

Second thing would be to check with manual shifting. If that works fine, the electrical part of your transmission function needs to be looked into.

Haven't gotten around to it yet. I do plan on doing it when it warms up a little bit outside

I put it in 1-12 gear it did the same thing as well as putting it in thrid. Only way it went away was when I turned the jeep off and started it back up. Weird thing is reveres worked fine with no slipping
