Question tranny fill plug

ive got a 88 with a 5 speed. Am i crazy or is the fill plug some bastard size(question mark button missing). i swear thar it should fit a rachet, but it dosent.

I don't remember the size but there is a socket in your tollbox that will fit.

I found the same issue.... square, but too small to be 3/8 drive, too big too be a 1/4 drive.

I settled on grinding down a 3 inch 3/8 drive extension to fit.

Is there an actual tool that will fit this wierd hole?

Its a SST (special service tool) you can buy from the dealer or grind down a 3\8" extension with a dremmel which is what i did.

What I did as well. Thought maybe I was lookin at somthing besides the fill plug. Thanks for the reasurrance.

hey i have the same issue u have the peugeot ba 10/5 i have bad synchros in second gear. the ba 10/5 tranny is a weak tranny for the cherokee im goin to be swapping the ba 10/5 to the aisin ax-15. if you want to swap the ba 10/5 to the ax-15 tranny heres a web site for you to look at
