Well my tranny is dead and im looking for a donor.
I'm searching craigslist and i have currently found 4 1994 trannies that i could pick up close by decently priced. Mine is a 1998 with an aw4. What years of xj trannies can i throw under my rig that will bolt and plug in?
Thanks

The aw4 came with different wiring setups and sensors, along with different splined shafts. Im pretty sure pre '91 was a 21 spline output shaft and anything after '91 was 23 spline. I know there are wiring differences throughout the post '91 years and i was looking for some insight on that.
Has anyone swapped wiring harnesses on a tranny before. Is it very difficult or even possible?

Also make sure that you get the tranny from a 4wd vehicle, the AW-4 came in a 2wd and 4wd version. One of the two has a longer tailshaft, so if you get the wrong one, it won't bolt to your transfer case.Originally Posted by CRoading
