Default tranny change

I'm just wondering if its possible to take an automatic transmission, transfer case and front axle off of an 89 4.0 in line 6 and put it in a 96 that's got a manual 5 speed and an in line 4

You probably could, but dont put the front axle in because its got different gears than the 96 has in the rear. You also wont have the proper wiring harness to hook up the TCU (computer for the trans), so you would have to change the harness, or shift the auto manually.........

sell it and buy an auto....

89 and 96 are two different smells. You looking at a lot of headaches. Just find another 96 for about $2k or less and use it for parts.
