Checked out past threads, and can't find a definitive answer....
"Can an NP242 be swapped out for a NP231 without any problems?"
I am aware of the output shaft spline issue, but is there anything else? Is it just a matter of a simple swap??
Only reason I'm asking, is I am about to fit a L/A RC lift which is only compatible with the NP231. ( and I have an NP242 fitted).

the 242 hangs like an inch lower. notch the skid plate and a little bittle of metal and i bet you it would work. check you the difference in the jcr skids in the vendor section and you will get a better idea of what i mean
direct swap. gota switch the shifter selection plate. under the t-case shifter, its gold

Yep, I would have stuck with the 242 for the lift, and notched the new cross member, but I've also got a SYE for the 231, and a new drive shaft - thats why i'm wanting to do the swap.

ahh your good. build the s**t out of it before you put it in. Frankz has a great write up some where on how to make a bullet proof 231 for $80 or something close to that price
