I just finished installing new SS brake lines as well as SS braided brake hose. The brake hoses don't have the angle that the OEM hoses have at the caliper. It's too close for comfort at full lock so I'm thinking of temporarily installing marine grade bungees (I can make my own) to lightly pull the hoses inboard to allow for more clearance. Is there a better method?
If memory serves me correctly, I did this with my zook many years ago and after time the ss brake hoses took a "set" and allowed ample tire clearance.........
Footnote - What a miserable job replacing the front line across the engine bay with a one piece pre-bent line. Not as bad as I originally thought but not as easy as I hoped..........

did you have problems with your lines going into the master cylinder leaking? I had to replace one line because I butchered the flare during a soft line change. now the hard line leaks out around the bolt, and I've removed it and put it back on a few times, not real sure what to do

Deers, what you are doing is called Hijacking/Threadjacking. This is Crow horse's thread, and you are not helping a bit. You just learned a bit. Don't wrench on a brake line fitting that's cross threaded, causes a headache. Make sure it's started right by hand first. In your shoes I might go buy a short section of line with flares&nuts, and a coupling. Try better to start it right in the Master, loop it to fit, then hope the coupling will thread on the end of the line you mucked up. Now butt out.
Crow Horse, I'm no help there. Wonder if anyone sells an angle fitting??

I think my issue has 2 causes. One. the pre-bent lines from Classic Tube weren't exactly bent like the one I removed and the banjo fitting on the brake hose doesn't have the bent angle like the OEM has. It all still fits, but the hose is too close to the tire at full lock. I'll try to take some pics if its not raining. I'll make up some bungees to gently pull them inboard to give me piece of mind.....
The issue Deers has is either a bad flare, cross threaded fitting or both. Either one won't be fun to repair.....
Edit - looking at the OEM brake hoses, they too didn't have an angle bent into the caliper fitting. Guess I'm just getting old....

Here's a pic of the issue. I think I can loosen the fittings and put a slight twist in the line to make the brake hose take more of an arc/curve...

I still have yet to install the ss hoses on the front of my Cherokee. When I do, I plan to use springs to pull the lines in. Like the parking brake cable.

another question. I can't seem to get the bolt screwed into the master cylinder. I hand thread it, but it only goes about a full turn before resistance and I don't want to cross thread it. how far in should you be able to hand tighten before needing a wrench?
