Brake lines

Brake lines
hello all im new here, i have been reading this web site for sometime getting ideas and even tried the air box mod that was on here at one time.. but ya i have a problem my xj was from Michigan so the rust is really bad i have fiberglassed all the holes and got all the rust off. but my new problem is the rear brake line has completely rusted away and i dont know the size of the line. does anyone know the size so i can tell the parts guy at autozone? the line has flaked away and the connector is pretty much gone and wont tell me what thread or size i need.. help

Follow that line back to the master cylinder and pull it out there to have a sample, or if you are talking about the lines on the axle to the wheels your parts man should be able to figure it out from the size from a wheel cylinder off of his shelf. If he can't, I'd try a different parts store! For that matter he can probably get the right size from a master cylinder off of his shelf also.

yea i pulled the whole brake line off from the prop. valve to the axle.. the problem is someone tossed it out.
im just going to visit the scrap yard and cut a piece from there i guess.. thanks

Thats about the best your going to be able to do, well you could bend your own but that would be a bit more labor intensive.

It's not really that much work, just a little bending here and there. I had to replace the hard line on the rear axle of my tj cuz it snapped at the wheel cylinder. I measured the distance and then bought it 1 foot longer than i needed and bent it over and under stuff. It turned out to be the perfect length. I got lucky there. It's real easy to bend.
