Will my tps cause my 91 xj, with auto transmission, to take forever to shift, and will it stall out my jeep? we hooked it up to a snap on scanner, and it said that my tps was Wide open all the time causing it to stall and run like . but back to the tranny issue, the jeep from first gear will take forever before it will decide to shift, i have to shift 1st and 2nd with my foot. before it will straightin up. any .02 would be appriciated

 

Did it shift like that before your tps issues? I would replace the tps before worrying about the shifting issue because a poor running engine can cause your trans to appear to not be working properly.If it is not caused by the poor running condition then try adjusting the TV cable aka kick down cable.

 

Both symptoms and the scan gauge point to a faulty throttle position sensor.

Replace it. They aren't too expensive.
