TPS or CPS
So my 90 XJ is struggling, it hops as if you if are in the wrong gear while cruising around 30-40 mph. Its an auto by the way, also startung from a stop it "bogs" down and acts as if its starting from a higher gear. I checked the autozone app to see how much a TPS & CPS were and both are listed as CPS. different parts numbers, but classified as CPS. My question is, which one of these do you guys think it is. And, do i even have a CPS, ive never seen the bracket anywhere for it. Thanks in advance

Well man, i dont know where or how the cps will look on an automatic but i have an 88 XJ and its manual and my cps is located on the bell housing on the driver side. Not on top of the housing more like a couple inches from the top, but driver side... it might have a little cover and thats why you dont see the cps.
i dont think its the cps, i remember when my cps was crapping out to it crapping out. It just wouldnt start... i would try cranking it but no turn over, and then when i used brake cleaner to hope it would clean it and fix the problem. It would start the jeep but maybe 2 or 3 minutes later it died, so my best bet is the tps

Check out Cruisers tips, I posted the link below for you, they will show you how to test the sensors so you aren't just throwing money away. Your TPS could just need to be adjusted or it could just be a dirty ground.

Like Jeepcrazy says, checking/cleaning grounds and seeing if the TPS adjusts to the correct readings sounds like a good start. (Cruisers link is right on top in my link below)
