Default TPS adjustment

The back of the TPS on my 87/4.0/4wd is sealed. There's no way to back probe.

How am I supposed to adjust it?

You have to back probe the connector.

Thanks, that makes more sense!

Is the top connection in the pic the transmission side and the three wires without a connector the engine side?

Are the three wires that are taped together supposed to be like this, or did the PO just elect to forego a connector?

Square connector is the trans. The other three are engine side and should have a connector. Your p.o. did the same thing mine did. I got a new tps and got a connector at the jy.
