The 2"x16' strap you're looking at is just fine for what you need to pull your XJ or another rig of equal weight. You might possibly want to find one a little longer as 16' doesn't give you much length to work with. 20K pulling capacity is WAAAAAAAAY more than you need for an XJ. So, if you can pick that 2"x16' strap up for $22, I'd say go for it.

you can always loop two together just put a stick or something in there so you can get them back apart but the longer you get the less likley you will have two rigs stuck you can never have two many tow ropes man

I have a 30' strap that I use. Just for the versatility. I have up to 30' to work with or I just tie it off for the length I need. It works like a champ. Where exactly are you finding these tow straps for such a good price, Bro?? It's about time for me to pick up a new one.

That had better be one hell of a stick to use in recovering a vehicle.

if you use the loops on the straps they will never come undone again unless you stick a stick in there to absorbe the impact and ya it needs to be about 5 or 6 inches around been there done it both ways and now we have a strap that is over 60 feet long cause it will not come undone

Of course a clevis is probably a better way to attach them and still be able to remove both straps.
