Default Torque converter lock operating voltage

What is the voltage required to lock the torque converter?

Assuming the AW4 - the TCC is controlled by a solenoid down in the valve body, as it's a hydraulic circuit. The solenoid should get full battery voltage, just as the two shift solenoids do.

I just replaced all of the shift solenoids in a 98 XJ. There is a kit available for almost 300 bucks, plus you need a pan gasket and ATF. It's a pretty simple fix, just expensive.

My senoids are fine guys, I want to control when and if the torque converter locks and wanted to make sure I dont fry it with too much voltage, I had thought they operated on 5v

Easy enough to do - I know there have been a couple of designs that allowed you to make a "manumatic" AW4 - which would allow either automatic operation (as OEM,) or allow you to manually shift and hold ALL FOUR ranges, and make TCC lockup available whenever desired (instead of just in third and fourth.)

I can probably pillage around to find a truth table for the two shift solenoids, if you want to go that far. The big headache would be figuring out how to switch between controls - ECU vice manual.

You would have to wire up a switch box that would select between the tcu and manual mode thats all. I just wanted to know the operating voltage of the solenoids.
