Well for the past day or so I've slowly been stripping all of the un-needed parts off my new TJ front axle to swap into my XJ. Well its down to just the trackbar that needs to be removed and apparently the idiots that designed it thought that an allen head would be a better idea than a regular bolt like on the XJ front axle. Well since it was rusted on needless to say I stripped the allen head out and was unable to remove it.
I decided next to use an idea I had read online, to weld a regular nut onto the bolt to give to be able to remove with a regular wrench. Well my low powered mig welder couldn't make a strong enough weld to not just snap right off with the amount of pressure I was giving it. So at this point I got extremely fed up and just decided to cut the head off the bolt, which I did and the bolt is rusted in all the way through, so I cant pound it out even being the now headless bolt.
Does anyone have any further ideas, I'm considering drilling it out but I don't know what I'm doing really, I've never had to do anything this intensive before. I'm just about so fed up with this project that I'm considering just buying a front install kit and swapping the gears into my current housing. Anyways, has anyone ever had a similar problem before, can you drill this out even without having to re-tap it or is it not a threaded hole. Any assistance would be a big help. Thanks.
