I would like to put Mopar motor mounts back in my xj but as you know they are discontinued. I see that TJ wrangler motor mounts are still available from the dealer. From pictures they seem to be the same as the xj motor mounts besides a cutout in the rubber under where the through bolt goes. Does anybody know if Tj motor mounts will work in an XJ? Mopar 52019278AD is the part number. Thanks.

They sure look close, don't they... Aftermarket versions are available that work for XJ/YJ/ZJ/TJ and others that are only XJ/YJ/ZJ. The difference has to be something small...

My assumption is the XJ/YJ mounts are taller than the TJ mounts. The reason I think this is because the TJ used a very low skid plate compared to the YJ, and I’m pretty sure this was because of the shorter driveshaft from the new TJ NP231 sealed output. My guess is they wanted to have less angle on that driveshaft than the YJ had on its slightly longer shaft, so they lowered the skid plate and then slightly lowered the mounts to match.
I did notice that when my YJ engine is sitting on the TJ mounts, the harmonic balancer touches the alternator splash shield just slightly. So that might contribute as well.
The only reason I even care is because I haven’t truly road tested mine yet. The YJ has been under construction for several years and the most use those mounts have seen is driving around the block one time at no more than 30 mph. I am all stock height wise and driveshaft style wise so if these do cause a vibe (due to being lower or whatever the actual difference is), I’ll for sure know since I am stock in all other aspects.

Curious if you ever did anything with this? I’ve got a YJ and as this thread discusses, YJs use the same mounts as XJ. I actually bought these same Mopar mounts a year or so ago and my 4.0 in the YJ has been sitting on them fine - however I always did wonder what the difference was (if any) as I don’t have much to compare to. My OEM 52019201s are long gone.
