Any year TJ should work. They should all be the same. I prefer the look of 4 rear TJ flares, something about the front TJ flares on an XJ doesn't look right to me.

I like the front TJ flares with the indicators and higher front end look...thinking to upgrade the ones on my TJ and swap the factory versions to my XJ, the problem is they all turn grey so darn fast...

Im throwing in the information that I have collected while looking into TJ's for my 94 Sport (Lil Red)
You want to look for something around 2001-2005 Rubicon for 4" wide.
2006-now Rubicon will get you 6". Don't quote me EXACTLY, this is only what I have found.
As for the front's, Its all a matter of taste.
Some like the side markers some don't.
If you want the fronts, think about side-marker height trim of XJ fenders.
(Bottom edge of fender located at bottom of side marker for early models/ bottom of header panel for new models)
Check on Craigslist, I found a full set of 4 for $50
Here are a few shots of my fronts:
I have the 4" wides from a 2005 Rubicon. I will be doing the rear set soon. I NEEDED to get the tread covered for state inspection (PA) and the wimpy stockers weren't up to the task.
