Default Tires rotting

The xj I am looking at has stretch marks and splitting on the sidewalls of the tires, is that a big problem? dry rot?

Picture? Any dry rot is technically bad.some tires are more prone to it than others like Goodyear and mischelin. I'd say as long as the slits are not longer than 3/4-1" you'll prob be ok.also make sure there is no cord showing through

Figures, but it is inspected as of Dec. and Emissions as of Jan.

It hasn't moved in about a yr, so its a lick and stick.

referring to the pic, is that a really big problem? All I saw on the tire was Unitrex or something like that, some really offfff brand tire.

New tires need to be in your budget.... they will get worse with proper inflation and the heat of the road....

Okay, I was looking at Grabber AT2s anyway. So more or less I should probably get tires when I pay for the Jeep? haha

Okay, I offered him $1200, he bit. but now after I really took a look I should drop it to $800, and buy tires at the same day.

Yes get new tires ASAP and General AT2's are great tires, last long and a very good bang for your buck

Okay good. I work with a guy (not sure if he is on this forum) but He has had his AT2s for 4 years, and moved from DE too. So I thought it was a good tire. and for $99 on tirerack, I'm game for them. Thanks guys, will talk my neighbor down and buy the tires the same day as I pay him.

I don't mess with tire cracks man, never know how deep they are or when they could spur a blowout.
