Default Tires and Removing Fender Flares

Time to put new Tires on my 2001 XJ. Im noticing alot of people take the flares off. Whats the biggest tire I can run stico with out my flares? I'd like to put 31's on it.
thanks!

Do you have any lift? I would personally leave the flares on until you need to trim and then replace them. JMHO but Cherokees look better with flares.

I'm running 31's on my stock height 93... No flares and trimmed the fenders. I think it has good stance. People ask me how much lift I have.
