was wondering whats the biggest tire i can put on a stock 99 sport with a 15" rim and not need to do any mods?

 

I have 235/75/15 bf goodrich a/t no problem, no rubbing

I know you can fit 30's but you will rub when turning sharp.

 

You can fit 30s without trimming but as ^^^ indicated you'll have to play with the backspacing to prevent rubbing.

 

You can put 235/75 15 without a problem. You may be able to stick 30x9.50 15 without cutting depending on how much sag you have in the front coil springs and the rear leaf springs.

 

235/75-15 is what I have right now.

 

I just went through that myself -- post a couple weeks ago.

I put on 245/75/16 Cooper Discoverer Tires and they rubbed the back of rear wheel well. Discount said they would fit -- I said I did not think so.
3 weeks later I exchanged them for 235/75/16 and they are very close to rubbing in the same spot. If I hit a big dip in freeway under camping load and at 65-75 approx. there is a slight rub that I hear/feel.

235/70/16 would have probably been fine with no rubbing at all.

You would have to look up the conversion to a 15" wheel.
Only reason I have 16 " is because it is a "FREEDOM" model and it came with that size.

I've had an XJ from an 88 to a 2000 and a few years in between.
On a 15" rim the largest for sure without any mods is a 235/75R15.
You may get 30's to fit but it all depends on the shape of your suspension. If it's tired and a 99 is 14 years old, good luck. Cause you'll need it.

Now if you want to freshen up your suspension with new coils and leaf springs then 30's would still be iffie. You'll need to raise it for sure.

A stock clearance is 17.5" in front and 17" in back measured at the centre of the wheel hub to the bottom of the Stock fender flair. You need to have a greater than 17.5" clearance to get in anything larger than the 235/75R/15. Remember the largest STOCK size offered was 225/75R/15

 

Got 235/75 on my 98 with a slightly saggy suspension and my fronts rub the inner fender well when turning sharp and hitting a small dip at the same time. If you want bigger tires get a terraflex budget boost for like $70 and you should be able to clear 30's no prob. Just my two pennies.

 

A 2" budget boost is a good call. It puts the jeep at the height it SHOULD have come from right outta the factory and you'd be able to clear 235/75's nicely. I also strongly recommend getting OME 2" leaf packs for the rear. Stock leafs, even with aal's will sag.. My two Lincoln's..

I fit 30s under mine stock and they only rubbed when I maxed out the steering wheel trying to whip into parking spots. It's nothing you need to lift for.

My dad ran 30's on his 96? I think it was with no problems. I'm going to go with 31's, though. If you're worried about rubbing you could do a 2" BB and make it set nice and fit the tires perfectly.

 

i just put 30x9.5x15 on my 99 stock cherokee bf goodrich all terrain. No rubbing
