Default tire rim ?

hey just a quick question.. i have 8 inch rims now and i would like to run 12" tires... should i bite the bullet and get 10" rims or would it be acceptable to run them on the 8"s.. thanks

stay away from thornbirds unless your planning on spending a lot of time with a cutting knife on them. i don't think those tires do anything well

i ahve 34" ltbs now.. with like 40,000 miles on them.. still with quite a bit of tread.. thornbirds just look like they would be better on the road.. (my only car) and still have enough meat for mud (in louisiana)

Every tire manufacture recommends a 8.5" or wider wheel for a 12.5" tire due to proper bead seating but there's alot of people that do it. IMO I don't like the looks of 12.5's on a 8" wheel.

I'll double the comment of the Thornturds, horrible tire on road and off the only thing there good for is making noise they are loud as all get out. On the set I ran one buldged and had to buy a new tire and then I had one fling one of its lugs a year after I bought them.

I had 8inch rims and when I went to 12's they made my tire footprint so much bigger when I air down. Look at my Pic's in my album. Those are 12x15 rims with 31/11.5/15 TrXus AT's...Tj

I run 8x15 D-Windows on on those I run 35"x15", yes 15" wide TSL's. Never a problem out of them. I'm a tech at Firestone. Just sayin'

I got 33x12.50's on a 15x8 rim. They look just about right. When you air down, the beads stay on a bit better than with a wider wheel.

If it's a street pounder, then go with a wider wheel. They look pretty mean being so wide, but don't do as good off-road.
