Default Tire Question.

I finally have enough money to buy some new tires! lol so i wanted to get some Super Swamper LTB in 31'' but now they are discontinued for 6 months and i want to get new tires before the wisconsin winter starts. I have $1000 to spend. Does anyone have any recommend that will work for winter and for mudding? That is only what i want to use them for. Thanks for looking.

They are great tires if you never leave the pavement. They are not worth having in mud/rocks or loose gravel. I like them on trucks or mall crawlers but if you do any trail riding or plan to i would advise to stay away from them.

They are good in the snow but as stated they arnt all that great in the mud. I have taken mine in the mud a few times and they gunk up pretty quick. To the original post is it your daily driver, and if so how much mud will it be seeing? If its not a dd I would go with a mt not an at.

Firestone Destination MT is one of the highest rated MT tires. Willie Worthy likes Mickey Thompson MTZs and uses them on his Grand Cherokee. I like the Toyo Open Country MT, but I don't know about the 31 inch size. I use an interco TSL in a 32x950 15 on my flat fender Jeep and they do OK for a Bias ply tire in the snow.

:yuckytirethread:

JK, but tire threads are like oil threads, and are very hard to nail down. Everyone is borderline political about tires, and oil for some unearthly reason!! LOL!! Just shop around, and find something you like. If someone else starts a tire thread, you can tell them how great your new tires are!! LOL!! Good luck with your quest!!

I have kumo road venture MT's and i love them so far. They stick to rocks well and dig is the dirty and mud. I will more than likely own another set.

Unless you are trying to push through really deep snow, maybe over your bumper, you'll want to get a/t tires. I'm also in WI, so I'm familiar with the weather you get.

So what I'm getting at here, unless you use SUV/car road tires, the year round rubber you have "stock" should be great for winter. Use that extra money to buy yourself a dedicated offroad tire, because most of those don't do so hot when your driving on snowy roads.

If you liked the Interco Super Swamper LTB in 31" why not look at the Interco Super Swamper TSL bias in a 31 they are very similar tires and the TSL actually has a deeper tread. Have the centers siped and you'll do pretty good in the snow.
