Default Tire Opinions

I found a good deal on a set of 33x12.50 Thronbirds.
So I'm looking for opinions from people that has actually owned these.
I daily drive my jeep and wheel it around 2 times a month.

Thornbirds do look pretty, but I would have to agree they are terrible on the pavement.

Buy a set of earplugs, and get ready for plenty of vibrations. But if they are cheap then go for it.

I currently have a set, and have had them on 2 rigs. The noise isnt bad at all. They perform on the street like most aggressive tires, but are really not that bad on the street either. Off road that is I have heard many things. Good in the sand, not bad in the snow, but I have never had them on trails. I would imagine there not too bad but lack some traction. They have great sidewall traction though. The wear on the street is awesome compared to some since there not as aggressive. Plus the wider ones look sweet, like the 12 and over widths.

Over all I would use them primarily for what your looking for, 80% street and 20% off road. I would probably not buy another set since there are some better options for the price out there, but for a good deal I would seriously think about it.

Just my thoughts.

What is the deal? Some things look better when the are cheaper. But, for over $200 a tire NO WAY.

FWIW, I've heard nothing but bad about them, aside from one of the prior posts.

This isn't saying much, but they are still making and selling them.

From what I've read, and seen (my buddy made the mistake of buying a set for his yota), they're not worth the price. As mentioned above, unless ur getting a really good deal on them, I wouldn't go for them.

Yeah, but if they are that bad they wouldn't produce them anymore. What would be the point since they have designed better tires since then. Not saying there the cats meow, just the fact that they cant be as bad as some say since there is also the polar opposite opinion on them as being good.

I had a set of 33/12.50's and would not recommend them for DD use. My entire wheel assembly came off the spindle because the front tire was wore down so much it had started coming apart and was causing vibes in the F250 I had. They do work well in deep ruts because of the sidewall treads though. IMHO, they are for fashion, not function.

Should probably mention they had low miles on them when the wheel assembly mishap occurred.

I'd imagine they still produce them because they do kinda look neat and like you've mentioned above, they don't ride too bad on the street because of the tight tread design. As we all know, there is an obscene amount of people out there who get things for their trucks solely because they look cool. If thats what you are after, go nuts. If you want a tire that performs well off road, you can get more for the money. I'm not trying to disrespect those among us that appreciate looks more than function, I'm just sayin...
