mabe leak test it to see if it has a burnt valve. I had a toyota that would idle smooth but have no power and buck. # 6 had burnt exhaust valve. i can hear air out the exhaust.

Do you know if it has the right flexplate and crank sensor? since the engine is obd 2 mabe they didnt swap the flexplate. To read with ur obd 1 sensor. I would start with that first to make sure proper signal is sent between the flexplate and crank sensor.

I havent looked into that stuff much on doing obd 2 swaps for jeeps. But just speaking off of other swaps ive done.

Did a leakdown test, all tested good.

I did not look too much into the crank sensor or flywheel...yet. Going to be playing with the Chrysler DRB-3 scan tool tomorrow and see if I can figure something out.

Well, my weekend didn't go as planned. Was working on my dad's Jeep (WJ) before working on my own. Got the front end pulled apart to replace the front left axle, then found that the axle I got was wrong. So that sat for a couple days in the garage till I could get the correct axle, today, and finished it up tonight. Hopefully will get to mine very soon.

Will deffinitely let you guys know what I find.

I'm bringing this thread back because I am still lost. I found the hose from the fuel pump to the hanger loose, replaced the hose and clamps, also found a vacuum leak to the fpr, fixed that. Vacuum at idle was 13-14, now it is 17-18 which I think it still a bit low. The hesitation seemed to get a little better but not right.

Then I noticed that if I am turning, it goes away. If I am turning right it gets a lot better but still there, but if I am turning left and get on the gas, the hesitation goes away completely and it runs great. That confuses me even more...???

Any ideas?

17 to 21 is a good vacuum reading.

I thought closer to 19-20 is ideal?

So I shouldn't be looking for another vacuum leak somewhere?

I wouldn't be chasing any more vacuum leaks with that reading.

It doesn't change no matter how much fuel is in the tank.

At idle, wiggle every harness you can find under the hood and see if you can duplicate it or pinpoint a miss/buck.
